Wave Three, Inc. Launches Hosted Services For Video Conferencing and Data Collaboration
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 11, 2005--Wave Three, Inc., a member of the Wireless Logix Group, has launched a range of subscription-based hosted services for its industry-leading Session™ IP communications software, enabling affordable and highly-scalable voice, video, and data collaboration in the enterprise and retail sectors.
"Our new range of hosted services enable enterprises and individuals, for the first time, to deploy an industry-leading video conferencing and data collaboration tool in a very cost-effective and scalable fashion, something they couldn't do with traditional video conferencing solutions due to the prohibitive deployment costs," says Bob Randall, COO, Wave Three, Inc.
While traditional video conferencing services require the installation and network integration of additional hardware devices and servers, greatly increasing the cost of implementation, Session™ IP communications software is a cross-platform, software-based solution that can be deployed on any standard desktop and laptop computer.
"Subscribers to our hosted service packages simply download a software client to their desktop or laptop computer to begin audio and video conferencing and data collaboration. Other than a webcam and headset, no special purpose hardware is required, which is where our services really differentiate themselves from most other offerings," says Randall.
Unlike traditional conferencing and collaboration solutions, Session™ software is both PC and MAC compatible, runs over existing IP networks, including the public Internet, and works in conjunction with the vast majority of existing firewall and network addressing policies. The software also includes a feature that automatically optimizes application performance on all bandwidth ranges above dial-up.
Wave Three, Inc.'s new retail and enterprise subscription packages offer both "point-to-point" and "point-to-multipoint" connectivity, which enables group participation and collaboration on an ad hoc or unscheduled basis.
"This functionality is very important, because, until now, video conferencing has been something that can only be done in a conference room on a strictly scheduled basis. By bringing this functionality to the desktop, we can provide our subscribers with the richness of a full audio-video collaborative communications session on an ad hoc basis, as well as on a point-to-point and point-to-multipoint basis, eliminating the need for specialist call set-up and conference scheduling support," says Randall.
Wave Three, Inc.'s hosted communications and data collaboration services consist of three key components: Session™ IP Audio and Video Services, which enable point-to-point audio, video, and text messaging; Session™ IP Multipoint Video Conferencing Services, which enable multipoint audio and video conferencing; and, Session™ IP Data Collaboration Services, which enable users to make presentations, share applications, white board, and even operate applications remotely.
Subscribers can purchase hosted communications and collaboration services separately, or bundle according to their requirements. Subscriptions are available on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
Wave Three, Inc.'s target markets to date have been in education, medical research, and government applications. Following the launch of these new hosted services, the company is gearing up for a major deployment into the enterprise market verticals.
Truly industry-leading, Session™ is one of the first commercially available, audio and video desktop conferencing solutions to be built using the Session™ Initiation Protocol (SIP). SIP is a signaling mechanism for creating, modifying and terminating IP based teleconferences, which was adopted as the official standard by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) in 1999.
