Conference Management
Services
The Session Conference Management Services provide scheduling to
end-users in addition to load and bandwidth management tools enabling
network
administrators to optimize the system for operation on their existing
networks.
Using standard web browsers, users access the Session Conference
Management Services to schedule and initiate multipoint calls. Conference
users schedule and make changes to conferences and receive both
a screen and a Conference Server generated e-mail confirmation.
The e-mail confirmation can be forwarded to other participants with
the users existing e-mail application and address book.
To enter a conference, a user simply enters the conference address
in the Session client as one would in a URL in a web browser. An
example of a typical SIP conference address is:
sip:departmentmeeting@wave3software.com
When scheduling a conference, users can set up Open
or password Protected calls. Should an initiator opt
to password-protect a conference, only parties with the password
may enter the conference. For open calls, participants simply enter
the SIP address of a conference and they may enter and leave the
call as desired. After entering the SIP address for password-protected
calls, the participants are required to enter the password defined
by the conference initiator to gain access.
Bandwidth and server capacity management features are extremely
important components for implementing a high quality, real-time
communication and collaboration infrastructure. System administrators
use the Conference Management Services to define these settings
as well as user privileges, including giving individual users or
groups of users the ability to establish Open or Protected conferences.
